Whenever they say Malate, you’ll think about bars and pubs. back in my college, this is our go-to place to drink after an exhausting week in school. Today I’m invited to try Spirites Bar where we used to go. They are located in Bellagio Square Jorge Bocobo St, Malate, Manila.

Bellagio Square is like a park of Restaurants and Bars, at night they have a live band and beer promos. Spirits bars is giving FREE 3 Glass of cocktails to all LGBT, no minimum purchase.

of course, while indulging with their drinks, here’s what you need to try.

Picka Picka. The usual street food you see. Pop Corn, Hotdogs, Fries, Fishballs, and cheese sticks.

Barkada. This one is really for barkada, it has Buttered Chicken, Buffalo Wings, Fries, Tofu, Calamari served with Cucumber Vinegar.

KALE: Shredded kale leaves, tossed in creamy grana padano dressing with croutons. The kale salad was super light but tasty. It serves as a good starter dish for anything.BABY SQUID: Deep-fried crunchy baby squid smothered with our secret recipe of sweet-soy chili sauce. It is a different and better kind of fried calamari because it’s covered with their own sweet-soy chili sauce. It resembles Korean fried chicken with its thick glaze on the outside.GAMBAS: Market-fresh prawns, pan seared with toasted garlic. A very popular and common shrimp dish that has a very light garlic taste.RIBEYE – FULL (COOKED MEDIUM RARE): 650g US Prime Beef, seared to perfection. This dish was definitely a sight to behold. It looks mouthwatering and “good” is not even enough to explain how it tastes.

PORCHETTA: Fried pork belly, with squash puree, shimeji and cherry tomatoes. Their version of porchetta had a thick cut of fried pork belly sitting on yummy squash puree. The meat had a very straightforward taste and goes really well with the squash puree.JT BURGER: ½ pound Angus, truffle mayo, brie, foie gras, brioche bun. Literally, good inside and out. The brioche buns had a hint of truffle which makes it delicious. The Angus beef burger was thick and flavorful while the foie gras on top adds a smoother texture to the whole dish.TRUFFLE PASTA: Truffle cream, mushroom, poached egg. One of the simplest items on the menu – pasta with truffle cream. This pasta just proves the truffle makes dishes really, really good.COCONUT PANDAN SOUFFLE: Fragrant pandan, coconut, rum. This fragrant and eggy dessert is a good way to end a meal. The soufflé is super light, one person might even able to finish it.BARS ALA MODE: Pecan brownie, white chocolate cookie, ice cream. Another simple dish from Araullo Gastropub. This dessert is good to share with other people because of the heaviness of the brownie and the cookie together.

I’ll start with the pizza - I can hear you ask WHY when it’s just pizza. guys, this one’s the shizzniitt I tell yah! fried chicharon bulaklak (mesentry) and isaw (intestine) topped a bed of mozza/cheddar and chewy bread sounds odd and may look off, but DAYUM, it’s packed with flavors that will completely turn your world upside down! SARAAAP! worth the penny and worth 10,000 more visits back to this place! genius.The 4-cheese kaldereta, made with fork tender beef topped with crazy good quezo can take my money too (but leave some rice on the table, about a cauldron please). packed with flavor and just enough tang and heat to complete the package of one awesome viand.The pork kebab was a lil bland if eaten as is but dipped with their fantastic tzatziki-like dressing, ohemhgee, it had a tangy savory finish that asks for an order of extra rice.If in the event, rice ain’t your game then order the pork belly skewers and the street style bbq platter (isaw, betamax, chicek feet, etc) + a few rounds of beer and that will equate to one marvelous pika/pika eating. include the balut in red wine sauce to up the ante of this #1 ambrosial Pinoy street food for that polished Kanto eat hits.

Something to amaze you are his condiments - well, the vinegar was one smackin’ dip for the skewered fare, but it also was well worth sippin’ on it like a bub… flavorous, actually for those who ain’t scared line their tummies with acid- lolz.Embotido Stuffed Crispy PataLechon KawaliCreamy Tuyo Pasta

The homey-vibe of this restaurant will get you to thinking if it is a resto that you’re walking in to. it is an old house converted to a dining place, so don’t wonder too much if it ain’t coming through as a legit resto for you because what’s important (and was evident) is the food, the service and the overall experience that came with it.

 
And now they are here in the Philippines partnered with Pedro Tap House. The famous Philippine craft beers of Pedro Brewcrafters, a brewery in San Pedro, Laguna. They made their own home for their crafts at Poblacion, Makati.
We got to try their All year round beer, the Pale Ale, Bright Ale, and Dog Days.

• Pale Ale

The beer that inspired this crazy journey, their is a hop driven Pale Ale bursting with flavour and aroma. Full-bodied yet refreshing, the bitter finish will leave your tastebuds craving more.

• Bright Ale

An approachable, refreshing ale. This bright-filtered ale takes inspiration from both the new and old worlds of brewing. It may be a hybrid ale in origin, but they like to think of it as the creation of a truly Australian style of ale.

Hoppy, but not too bitter, we use a whole bunch of hops from around the world to give us woody, green, floral notes with a bit of bite. The malt is subtle to balance the hops and keep things refreshing.
Dog Days

Dog Days was a hophead favourite when it was released as their last Summer Seasonal. The message from their fans was loud and clear: you wanted this beer year round. And quite frankly we couldn’t get enough of it either. So we’ve listened and brought Dog Days back FOR GOOD. And for the first time in Little Creatures history, they put their beer in a can.

A fine beer – crisp, clean, refreshing and hoppy. Pours a straw yellow colour with a rocky white head, with tropical hop aromas waft thickly out of the glass. The peachy, juicy-fruit hop flavours marry nicely with the wheat malt. In terms of bitterness, it’s firm, but not so intense that it overwhelms the light malt character.

Pedro Tap House also serves food that is good with the local craft beer.
