The Story of Calle Reyes, SM Marikina

Filipino loves to celebrate everything with food. Calle Reyes Manila Barbecue is a tribute to family and generations of a shared passion for cooking. The restaurant celebrates the legacy of his maternal grandmother and great grandmother named Luisa Garcia. Back in the days, their family runs a small eatery in front of their house. Her kare-kare was the talk of the town and favorite whoever would pass by their eatery, thus earning her the name “Luisiang Kare”.

A tribute to the Filipino culinary and dining legacy of the acclaimed Reyes Clan of Manila and its matriarch, Engracia “Aling Asiang” Cruz Reyes, who founded The Aristocrat Restaurant.

Inspire by two great legacies, Calle Reyes strides forward to pave the road in creating new and exciting flavors.

What’s on their Menu:
Chicken BBQ Platter. This is one of their appetizers. It has Chicken ass BBQ, Chicken Gizzard, and Chicken Liver wrapped in Bacon.

Salted Tinapa Rock & Roll. It’s their version of Tinapa Lumpia with a twist of Salted Egg.

Lola Ashanghai. I’m a fan of Shanghai. It’s the classic pork lumpia and I love it with its vinegar.

All-Star Platter. It has the best of the menu that’s why it’s called All-star. It has Grilled Squid, BBQ, Liempo, and Bangus.

Bulalo. The soup is superb, it’s very flavorful, It feels like home.

Ube and Watermelon Sinigang.

Black Palabok. Now my usual palabok, they use squid ink to make the sauce black.

Pancit Guisado. It looks like palabok but this is their version of pancit guisado. It’s a bit salty for me but it’s one of my favorites.

Kare-Kare. This is the famous kare-kare with a twist of lechon kawali.

Overall, I love the experience. The new concept of Calle Reyes is one of the modern twists of Filipino fiesta and Filipino traditional food. I will definitely recommend and be back again to try the other menu.
